The good news is that I'm going to plateau on my mileage for a little bit and that sounds nice. But this also means the intensity of the training is going up a notch (or ten).

I had busy schedules to contend with and didn't get as much weight training in as I should have. I really don't want to let that drop, but I rationalized it being ok as the 5k time trial really kicked my butt on Wednesday morning and I felt it for the next two full days.

Getting out early in the morning was also something new that happened this past week and though I suppose most runners find early mornings to be their best time to get a run in, for me it's the opposite. I don't like morning runs nearly as much as night runs.

I had a nice solid trail run on Saturday evening at my favorite local 24hr trail. Caesar Creek state park has a great perimeter trail around the lake that I have never found to be boring or ugly no matter the season. The pictures in this post are all from that run.

A moonlit night. Great for some 2x20 minute marathon efforts on slick, muddy trails.

Caesar Creek Night

I ended the week with a full day of skiing with my family and a scheduled run that I cut short by twenty minutes.

Logistics Part I

Getting ready for this race is not only about the training, being 1500+ miles from home and taking multiple days means this is the largest logistical challenge of any race I've been apart of. This post discusses some of my current thinking.
