I'm missing about twenty miles from my training this week. I did a treadmill hike/climb on Wednesday morning and by that evening I had a throbbing headache, fever and was severely fatigued. No Wednesday night workout for me and no Thursday easy run either.

Somehow, I'm not too stressed about it. I'm giving myself a bit of grace. Very few training cycles are perfect and though I was starting to get excited about that possibility, I'll take a small head cold right before peak training begins vs. something much more serious that could have taken me out for much longer or even cancelled my race completely.

By Sunday I was able to enjoy a half-marathon on the trails of the Cincinnati Nature Center with a half-dozen friends and though I wouldn't say I was at 100%, I know it was good to enjoy the big reason I enjoy ultra running; being in nature and being with others.

Oh yeah, and a friend brought and shared a snack that is now definitely going on my shopping list for Cocodona. Dot's Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels. Those suckers are good!
